Inspiration for a stylish summer soiree at home
Posted on May 22 2020
There is still time to host a memorable summer celebration this year. We’ve put together some inspiring ideas to help you create a garden party all your neighbours will be envious of.
First things first. Deciding on a theme. Do you want a pretty summer flower garden party or a bright and fun tropical summer fiesta? Once you know your theme, everything will fall into place. We also love our stylish Boho Spice range. Not only is it beautifully colourful, it is also eco-friendly.
The main table is the central point of any gathering. Sitting down as a family and enjoying a meal together is always special, so let's make your table sparkle.
Start by laying down a table cover and a runner followed by table decorations. We love the idea of placing flowers or greenery along the runner or using balloons as a table centrepiece. Follow on from this by setting up your party plates and cutlery.
Be creative with the liquid refreshments. This apple, elderflower & mint mocktail (recipe here) is ideal for summer days and family-friendly. Why not let everyone help themselves from this clear Kilner drinks dispenser or this Boho Spice glass pitcher?
If you want a fun place to seat little ones, lay down some rugs and cushions for them to sink into.

Keep your drinks chilled
On a hot summer’s day, you're obviously going to need to chill your drinks. But reaching into an ice bucket to grab a nice cold drink and getting wet hands is no fun at all. Instead, fill some colourful balloons with water (careful not to overfill them as they'll need space to expand), tie and pop them in the freezer. When they're ready, fill a large bucket, paddling pool or whatever works for your theme with the frozen balloons to keep your drinks chilled. Attach a bunch of big helium balloons to your drinks bucket for an extra flourish.
Ice cubes are also a must for a summer gathering, we like to fill our ice cubes with berries, edible flowers and herbs from the garden to add to the summer vibe. Get the kids to help pick the herbs and put the ice cubes together. When ready, pop in your drink or keep in this tropical pineapple ice bucket for your guests to help themselves. Once the ice has melted the herbs and fruits will infuse in your drink to enhance the flavour.
Summer is the perfect time to put together some salads. We can't get enough of this fresh avocado salad with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto (recipe here). Serve it in our gorgeous, eco-friendly mango wood bowl.
Next is dessert. You can't have a summer celebration without ice cream, right? Set up a stunning ice cream table (in the shade of course!) laid out with all the toppings and tubs so you can kick back and relax while your family get to personalise their ice cream sundaes. Offer sprinkles, gummy bears, ice cream sauce or whatever else you fancy. To really put you in the sundae mood, use these delightful ice cream plates.
Lace the garden with lanterns and fairy lights so when the sunsets you have a dreamy back garden setting. Create an idyllic, luminescent setting by filling mason jars with fairy lights to capture that “just before sunset” picture-perfect dusk setting.
Make the perfect summer backdrop with our range of scene setters. Go bananas with this banana and leaf backdrop or get in the tropical mood with this multi-coloured and gold foiled leaf party backdrop to create the ultimate summer photo booth.
We hope you enjoyed our summer party ideas!
