Ideas for Father's Day 2020 at home

.

Father’s Day 2020 is on Sunday, June 21 and, as the day approaches, you may be wondering how to make the day special for your dad. With big family gatherings currently banned by coronavirus guidelines, we need to be more inventive around how to spend the day. Here are some ideas for how to celebrate Father’s Day 2020…

.

1. Personalised Father’s Day presents

.

.

As well as making your own card or creating a personalised photo collage card for your dad, why not order him a personalised Father’s Day cake, with your choice of photos and message? If you’re looking for Father’s Day cake ideas, we think he will love our Personalised Multi Photo Cake in blue pastel or the You're No1 - Personalised Photo Cake, both of which can be ordered with either a vanilla cake with raspberry jam or rich chocolate cake with buttercream. Yum. If you’d prefer to make your own cake, why don’t you decorate it with this ‘Best Dad’ Cake Topper? It’s the trophy he’s been waiting for! And this matching ‘Best Dad’ Satin Badge doubles up as an adornment for your present and for a rosette he can wear proudly throughout the day.

2. Father’s Day decorations

.

.

You can design a personalised Father’s Day banner to decorate your house or garden: add a photo of your dad and your own message, and make his day! We like this You're #1 Personalised Party Banner but there are lots to choose from. We also have this jaunty Happy Father’s Day letter banner which works brilliantly as a backdrop to a family meal at home. All these items also make a special treat for a grandpa you can’t see at the moment - get them delivered straight to his door for a nice surprise. As for balloons, how about these brand-new ‘Happy Father’s Day’ foil balloons and/or the matching set of blue confetti balloons and get some ‘pop’ for your Pop?

3. Hold the Father’s Day Olympics

.

.

With the Tokyo Olympics 2020 unlikely to happen at full scale, you could create your own mini-Olympics at home for a fun Father’s Day activity. Your Father’s Day Olympics 2020 won’t be televised, but sprint racing, relays and cycle races can all happen at home or in your local park. We were inspired by this American dad blogger who set up lots of creative games for his children, including his own takes on bobsledding and curling (the latter involving a mop and hoverball). You could even mix it up with a few traditional sports day games such as the three-legged race, and our Egg and Spoon Race Party Game. Don’t forget to buy Winners’ Medals to celebrate the champions (perhaps on a podium made from chairs, stools or boxes?)

4. Set up a chill-out corner

.

.

Everyone needs their own space - especially since we’ve been spending so much extra time at home recently. Why not treat your dad to some peace and quiet on Father’s Day by setting him up a little nook somewhere in your house or garden? You could clear out the front of the shed and lay out a rug, an easy chair and the papers, or designate the sofa as a dad-only area, with waiter/waitress service and exclusive use of the remote control. We like the idea of creating him a ‘holiday corner’ on the patio: think relaxing sea sounds, a sunshade and beach towel on which he can lounge. We sell a Palm Tree Scene Setter which will do just the trick, you could hang this 8ft Hanging Foil Palm Tree Party Decoration from a tree or hook in the wall to make him laugh, spread out these atmospheric Gold Leaf String Lights, and serve him drinks in his own Gold Plastic Pineapple Cup. Cheers!

5. A feast fit for a king

.

.

Everyone loves a chilled summer barbecue and these tips make it as easy as possible (useful if you’ve been running around playing games and creating a Father’s Day corner!) Match your meal with your theme of the day by browsing all our occasion tableware. Our Tropical collection has some fitting pieces, including this classy Eco-Friendly Palm Leaf Platter. We also like the ‘Cheers!’ Football Champions Eco Cups in dusky racing green and the Green Wooden Party Cutlery for a tasteful yet fun spread. Don’t forget the ketchup!

We hope you all - not just your dad - have a great day! Don’t forget to tag us into your photos on social media @partypieces so we can see how you celebrated Father’s Day 2020.
