7 Awesome Musical Party Games

Create a real buzz at your next party, with these musical games which are sure to entertain partygoers of all ages! All you need to get started is some music - via Spotify, Apple Music, or good old fashioned CDs...

1. Disco Musical Statues

It's simple, timeless, and you don't need to buy anything extra!

Get the kids involved, dancing to the music. When it stops, they must keep as still as possible! Anyone caught moving is "out". As the judge, try to make one or more of the children giggle by pulling a funny face.

Match your musical statues game to your party theme with fancy dress or a musical theme, such as a Club Tropicana beach party!

2. Spin the Microphone

A musical twist on the classic game of Truth or Dare!

Sit or stand in a circle and place the microphone in the centre. You can use a real microphone, an inflatable one, or (in a pinch) a bottle!

Spin the microphone and whoever it points at has to choose between doing a dare or telling a secret.

This is an ideal game to play in a break during a funky karaoke party!

3. Party Island

Imagine musical chairs, set on a desert island! 🏝️

When the music stops, guests have to stand on Party Island in the centre of the room. The last guest left standing on the shrinking island wins.

Use sheets of newspaper or wrapping paper to act as your island. Each round, remove a section or fold a piece of newspaper in half.

The "island" will keep shrinking after every round, until guests can no longer fit and are "out".

It's perfect for a Pirate-themed party!

4. Limbo Games

Limbo is perfect for bendy partygoers and made all the more fun with some lively music!

Simply balance a long stick, piece of rope or string across the top of two chairs, approximately 1.5 metres apart.

Just make sure there are soft cushions or rugs in case of bumpy landings - or even play outside on some soft grass!

This is absolutely ideal for tropical party themes.

5. Pass the Parcel

Wrap a parcel/prize with lots of layers of wrapping paper, alternating the patterns of paper and attach a small packet of sweets or a little prize to each layer. The more layers, the better - so everyone gets the chance to unwrap a treat.

When the music starts, the parcel is passed around in a circle. When the music stops, the person holding the parcel gets to unwrap a layer.

Continue until the last layer is unwrapped, to reveal the final prize. It could be a large bag of sweets or something from our party bag range.

6. Sing-Along Songs

A staple for any musical party is a sing-along. Gather the kids and grown-ups around for a tune or two, such as Row, Row, Row Your Boat, If You're Happy and You Know It, and Wheels on the Bus.

For adults and older children, sing some of your favourite karaoke classics, like ABBA's Dancing Queen or Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

Take your sing-along to the next level by introducing some musical instruments, from something as simple as a kazoo to a harmonica, tambourine, or ukulele!

7. Strictly *Go* Dancing

Create your own dance competition: a great way to keep the kids entertained!

Divide the children into teams of four and get them to come up with a small dance routine together.

Give them a few dressing up accessories such as sunglasses, feather boas, hats and pretend microphones to start things off.

Award prizes for the best group of dancers along with the "most original" dancers, to avoid too much sulking!
