At-Home Party Ideas for Teenagers

If they’ve reached an age where fancy dress and face painting isn’t going to cut it anymore, consider these not-so-childish party themes. They include ideas your teenager will actually like, such as gaming and movie themes, and there doesn’t have to be a costume or even a party hat in sight. Phew.

And the even better news is that you don’t have to spend lots of money to pull them together. A few decorations here and there and a bit of food are enough to make their party low-key cool rather than over-the-top. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Theme Inspiration

Gaming

If they’re into XBOX or Playstation, you really can’t go wrong with a gaming theme. Our Game On range uses a super cool palette of black and green to make up this grown-up theme and includes everything from a game controller-shaped balloon display to party bags. We’ve also got a Fornite collection if that’s more their thing.

Star Wars

They’re never too old for this film trilogy loved by all generations, and with a new Star Wars TV series out this year, we have a feeling it’s going to be particularly popular with youngsters. You’ll discover all their favourite characters in our Star Wars range, from Darth Vader pinatas to R2D2 balloons.

Avengers

Who doesn’t love a superhero movie? You can make your teens feel a bit more grown-up with a blue, red and green colour palette and a smattering of Avengers-themed tableware and decorations.

Picnic

If the weather is on your side, host a classic garden picnic with gingham tableware, a wicker basket and a mouth-watering selection of snacks.

Football

Score big with footie fans when you deck out your place in football-themed partyware. We’re talking party banners, football-shaped pinatas, ‘goal’ slogan cake toppers and more.

Tropical fiesta

A summer birthday and our tropical fiesta range go together like cake and candles, so take the party outside with this colourful theme. Set up a tiki bar (with non-alcoholic cocktails for the teens, of course!) and deck out your garden with leafy garlands and fun fruity balloons!

Pamper party

Transform your home into a mini salon to create the ultimate pamper party for your teen and their guests. Along with some pretty decorations, you could set up a nail painting station, foot spa and hair chair for the full experience.

Food Ideas

Doughnut Wall

Our mouth-watering doughnut walls double up as a showstopping display, especially when you choose colourfully glazed doughnuts. Yum!

Grazing Table

One of the easiest ways to serve up food is via a grazing table. Simply lay out a selection of snacks and let everyone pick what they want, placing the food onto paper plates or napkins for easy cleaning up afterwards!

Hot Dogs

Bun, sausage, sauce, done – hot dogs are another easy party food and a good way to fill hungry bellies up. Try these paper party trays to save on the washing up!

Pick ’n’ Mix Station

Just like they do in the supermarket, place a selection of sweets into clear boxes and let kids pick ’n’ mix their favourite sweets. These boxes are the perfect size for filling up with treats.

Activities

Outdoor Games

If you’re hosting the party in the garden or park, be sure to have a few games handy for that post-snack sugar high! We’re talking rounders, limbo and giant jenga!

Game-a-thon

Ideal if you’re hosting a gaming-themed party, a game-a-thon will keep teens entertained for hours as they battle it on screen. Set up two PlayStation or XBOX stations and have the winners compete for the ultimate champion title. This customisable trophy makes the perfect winning prize.

Movies

Whether you’re hosting a film-themed party or not, having a good selection of movies on hand is always a safe option when it comes to keeping teens entertained.

Selfie Station

Because did the party even happen if it’s not on social media? Create a photo backdrop teens will want to be seen in front of with streamers, photo frames and props.
