Five ways to make Father’s Day 2021 special
Posted on June 09 2021
Father’s Day is on its way, so families will be planning ahead to get everything in place to celebrate the dad of their house. Don’t just buy a case of his favourite craft beer and let that be it, though. Push the boat out with a day packed with surprise treats, activities and plenty of family time. Here are five ways to make this June 20 one he’ll absolutely love...
Breakfast or brunch?
Of course, breakfast in bed is a popular option for Father’s Day, so if dad would relish being served a slap up brekkie while not having to drag himself out of bed, then stock up on his favourite pastries and cereal, and get some good bacon in for sandwiches. Sneak down to the kitchen to get it all set up while he snoozes. Kids love arranging breakfast in bed trays, so get them up to give you a hand. You might prefer to go out as a family for brekkie, but why not give dad a proper lie in and make it brunch instead? Now that we can sit inside in restaurants and cafes, it’s a good chance to make the most of it and support a local business. Pick a favourite spot and make sure you book ahead, then keep the pancakes, fry ups and sandwiches coming!
Plan a day out – and make it a surprise!
Surprise dad with a special day packed with his favourite things and activities, whether that’s going for a long bike ride, visiting a beloved art gallery or playing a round of golf at a spectacular course. Other ideas include organising a family games tournament, creating an 'at home' cinema for him to watch his favourite film or book him in for an online cooking class which you could all do together. Whatever you pick, keep it secret until the big day. Round off the activity with a magnificent family picnic, kitted out with some of our latest reusable tableware. Shop our lovely new ranges here. As a present, you could also get him a gift of a day out in the future. Concerts, sporting events and theatres have been off limits due to the pandemic, so buy tickets to something he’ll love, and he’ll have something exciting to stick in the diary.
The right records
Vinyl has spun its way back to huge popularity, and you can’t get a more classic ‘dad’ present than a load of records. Pick some of his favourite classic albums or try him with some new music. If you’ve got an independent record shop in your town then they’ll be able to help you choose some excellent albums, and if you don’t have a record player at home, consider combining a Father’s Day and birthday present by buying him one. This Sony turntable is extremely simple to set up, connecting to a Bluetooth speaker in seconds.
Father's Day 2021 decorations
Make the most of Father’s Day by going to town on the decorations. We’ve got some brilliant themed banners and balloons. This year, we’ve got these brilliant Father’s Day balloon bouquets, one featuring a beer mug balloon and another featuring a golden trophy balloon, and both coming with a star balloon to which personalised messages can be added. You can also add the personal touch by putting a message and photograph on these foil balloons, and text of your choice can be printed on these picture perfect bubble balloons that arrive at your door inflated and in a box. Ideas for messages include ‘To My Lovely Dad’, ‘Daddy’s 1st Father’s Day and ‘Happy 1st Father’s Day Super Awesome Daddy’.
Spa day for dad
Pampering spa days are a classic choice for a Mother’s Day treat or as a hen do activity, but dad deserves a bit of spoiling, too! Book him in for whatever treatment you think he might appreciate at a spa not too far from home. Whether it’s a massage, facial or pedicure, we’re sure he’ll appreciate being indulged for an hour or two.
